Our History & Objective

Established in October 2019, SMI-KSG was founded to provide expert training, research, and consultancy on security issues. Initially funded by NIWETU–USAID for a project on countering violent extremism, it has since grown into a premier institute for strengthening security stakeholder capacity.

Our principal objective is to provide a platform for discourse and contribute to Kenya’s National Security Policy through evidence-based research, technical assistance, and advisory services.
